About Me

Helping You Find Your Little Piece of Freedom

Hey there — I want to share something personal:

this is my story, messy and hopeful, just as I live it.

For 20 years, I worked at the Australian Taxation Office. I climbed roles, tackled complex problems, pushed through policy, compliance, mediations, and executive reporting. It was stimulating, demanding, and full of opportunity. I thought I had it all figured out — a career path, stability, the “golden parachute” awaiting me.

Then life nudged me (or maybe shoved me).

I became a solo parent with deep caring responsibilities. The balance I once maintained began to crack. I made one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made: I left the ATO and walked away from the financial security I had carefully built. I moved cities. I started over — in my 40s. Terrifying? Yes. Freeing? Absolutely.

From Stability to Starting Over

I’d already been quietly running a niche health-products business for years, importing and selling anion sanitary pads. That work taught me the fundamentals of entrepreneurship: sourcing, logistics, cash flow, customer relations — all the behind-the-scenes mechanics that don’t get talked about a lot.

After leaving, I took remote roles — helping build out teams, managing relationships, supporting businesses. I discovered working from home wasn’t just a convenience — it was essential. It proved I could carry caring responsibilities and still do meaningful work.

But somewhere deep inside, I knew there was more I needed to create.

Why I Started Little Piece

Every single day in mums' groups, I see women desperately asking how they can work from home or earn extra income around their caring responsibilities. They have incredible skills and experience, but most opportunities either don't fit their reality or make promises that sound too good to be true.

I've been where they are. I know what it's like to feel like you're starting over, to need work that actually fits around life instead of taking over your life.

What My Work Looks Like Now

Today, I work with a small circle of clients (around four), intentionally limiting my hours so I still have margin for my family, rest, and the fun things in life. My business is fully booked by choice, not necessity.

I don’t advertise. I don’t make exaggerated promises. My clients find me. They trust me. They inspire me.

Beyond the Screen

I live on acreage with my two daughters, our rescue dog, cats, chickens — and a wild entourage of wildlife that visit (yes, wallabies, snakes, kookaburras — the whole lot). My life is complex: I manage late-diagnosed autism, ADHD, health challenges, the burden of solo parenting, and all the day-to-day overwhelm. I also ride the waves of perimenopause (because, of course).

I share this not to ask for sympathy, but to show you: if I can build something meaningful out of all that noise, then maybe you can too.

Redefining Success

I use Trello to juggle priorities. I protect my energy. I ask for help when I need it. I let people into my space only when they help me grow. And I hold tightly to this truth: most of our “struggles” are with systems and bureaucracy, not with people themselves.

What success looks like to me isn’t about scale or wealth. It’s about security, impact, balance, and freedom. It’s about helping you find your own “little piece” — work, life, rhythm — that honors who you are and what you care about.

A Note for You

If you’re ready to explore what that might mean for you, I’d be honored to walk with you. No false promises. Just honest support from someone who’s been right where you are.

Warmly,
Mel

Questions? Here's what you need to know

When will this be available?

December 2025. You can join the waitlist now for early access and pre-launch pricing. Waitlist members get first entry to the course and community before doors open to the public.

Do I need qualifications?

No formal qualifications are required, but you’ll need standard worker clearances such as NDIS screening and police checks. Your existing experience, whether from work, caring, or volunteering, already counts. The Starter Kit helps you use those skills in a professional way.

What if I don't know about the NDIS?

You don’t need to be an expert. The Starter Kit covers the practical basics you’ll need and points you to optional extra training, like NDIS Worker Orientation or Mental Health First Aid, when you’re ready. You’ll learn what matters now and what can wait.

How much can I realistically earn?

It depends on your hours, your local area, and how you build your service. Some people start with a few hours a week; others build to a stable part-time income or more. The Starter Kit includes examples and planning tools so you can decide what suits your situation.

What if I'm not tech‐savvy?

If you can use email or video calls, you have what you need. All lessons are written clearly with step-by-step instructions and screenshots. You’ll also have access to the community and monthly Q&A calls if you want extra help.

What if life gets busy or I fall behind?

That’s fine. The Starter Kit is self-paced, and your access never expires. You can pause, come back later, and keep going at a rhythm that works for you.
